Sara Week 2: A Love Letter to Brandy Melville
Dear Brandy Melville,
You’ve stolen my heart. With each piece of 100% cotton clothing I buy from you and put on my body, I redefine myself. Your pieces aren’t just items that fill my closet, they dictate the blueprint for the outfit I show up in every day—the way I present myself to the world. Every tank top you produce is so meticulously crafted, with stripes and lace lining the top, fitting perfectly on my body (even though you only carry one size). The comfort of putting on your sweatpants after a tiring day of wearing jeans feels like a much-needed blanket encompassing my legs in ease. How you manage to make me feel so put together yet completely at home in my own skin, I will never know.
Brandy Melville, you’ve allowed me to discover myself in ways I never thought I would. Because of you, I now know that yellows and pinks complement my skin tone beautifully, drawing praise from everyone around me. There’s no better feeling than hearing a friend say, “That top looks cute on you,” and getting to respond, “Thanks, it’s from Brandy!” I now feel comfortable experimenting with new colors in my closet, whether it be coral, teal, or purple. Stepping out of my comfort zone is no longer a fear for me, because I know you’ll be right by my side supporting me in the process. You’ve given me the courage to evolve my style and never stop being curious about my fashion choices.
Lastly, how could this be a love letter without me expressing my appreciation for each of your brilliantly thought out and designed seasonal collections? As summer turns to fall, the yellows and pinks that once radiated off my body turn into brown cardigans and red scarves that hug me tight. You really do have the perfect piece of clothing for every occasion in every season. But nothing beats when I come to see you during spring—just weeks before my birthday—itching to buy a new outfit. You always have the perfect items laid out for me, just waiting to be tried on. You know me so well. So thank you, Brandy Melville, for allowing me to find myself in the difficult world of style, and for showing me that clothes aren’t just things that go on your body, but—similar to words—are expressions that help you find who you are and share that with the world.
Yours truly,
Sara
