Raie Week 3: Sunday Reset

Raie Week 3: Sunday Reset – Published 9/20 [10:43 PM]

I love my Sunday resets.

A large percentage of my Sundays have looked like this: Wake up early, travel to the wondrous land of Costcofor groceries, maybe eat out, exercise, take an extensive shower with eucalyptus salt, and change my bedsheets. A tiring day met with an evening full of rest, preparing me for the tumultuous week ahead. That entire ordeal is quite extravagant, so naturally not all of my Sundays look like that. However, the ones that do verily relax me and keep me sane. Sunday resets are a mandatory one-month event I mustexperience to reassess my surroundings and to tell myself I am okay.

I know it seems like an influencer fad or a social media trend, but Sunday resets genuinely work for me. Whatever pain, fatigue, or stress that has plagued me over the course of 6 days is immediately washed away with a singular day of rest. In a way, those days of reorganization are like an apology to my body. An apology to my fascia and corpus saying “Hey, I am so, extremely, heartily sorry for not treating you the best this week. I promise that I am going to make it up to you on this one day, okay?” It is a language of atonement meant to rinse and repeat my body so I prevent overworking and stressing myself out. No wonder why Sundays are called “the day of rest”.

I would honestly recommend a Sunday reset to anyone—be it a student, teacher, adult, or anyone under stress. Stopping for a little bit instead of continuing to move on and progress can actually help you to move even further. So please, take a moment to rest before progressing.

  1. Hi Raie! I completely agree with your take on Sunday resets. Weekends are such a valuable time to take a break from the non-stop homework and tests of junior year, and I don’t think I could survive without them. Some weekends, I have events for the full day on both Saturday and Sunday, and it makes the entire week that follows feel so difficult to keep up with. I love how you called this day of rest an apology to your body because I relate to that a lot. I use my weekends to catch up on sleep, acting as though sleeping in for one or two days is going to make up for all the sleep I lost during the week. I’m not as productive as you on the weekends, though, so I guess I can’t call my Sundays a reset day. Every Sunday, I’m always too lazy to do anything unless it is homework I have to complete, so it’s interesting to see how you do so much and still feel refreshed. Maybe next time I have a free Sunday, I’ll try doing a more productive Sunday reset and see if it works better for me. Thanks for your insight!
